Landungsbrücken Frankfurt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Landungsbrücken Frankfurt is a free theater in Frankfurt am Main , "the openest theater in the city". Since November 2004 it has been located in an old warehouse of the former printing ink factory Dr. Carl Milchsack in the Gutleutviertel in the west of Frankfurt, which has since been converted into an event room. Every year around five to six in-house productions from the performing arts are realized. In addition, there are collaborations and co-productions with other theater groups as well as plays for children, youths, concerts, short film festivals, exhibitions and dance performances. A total of around 100 events are held each year.

The aim of the Landungsbrücken is to offer artists from Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area a platform for independent theater projects. These projects come from university graduates and debutants as well as directors and actors who are employed in other, fixed contexts at city and state theaters and who realize free projects here, for example by Tim Egloff , who made his directorial debut at the Landungsbrücken. The City of Frankfurt has been promoting the theater on a permanent basis since 2010 with a conceptual grant.

In addition, we also work with houses networked across Germany. Previous collaborations were carried out with the University of the Arts Berlin , the Schauspiel Frankfurt , the University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) Frankfurt and the Plateaux Festival at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm . Guests at the readings included Robert Gernhardt , Martin Semmelrogge and Herbert Fritsch . In 2008 and 2009 one production was invited to the Kaltstart Theater Festival in Hamburg , and two in 2010.

One of the greatest audiences' successes is the children's musical Ritter Rost , which is played for three weeks each year in December and which has up to 2000 spectators per season.
