The dramatic stage is an independent theater founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1988 with ongoing repertoire operations and around 150 performances a year. The theater specializes in the adaptation of classics such as Hamlet , Cyrano de Bergerac , Romeo and Juliet etc., each of which is presented in its own special way with a lot of comedy, tempo and music. The program includes plays by Shakespeare and Goethe in particular , but also film classics such as an adaptation of Nosferatu , the Count of Monte Christo or Barbarella . In addition, the theater carries out numerous guest performances, special events and commissioned productions.

The Excess Hall on Leipziger Strasse in the Bockenheim district has been a permanent venue since 1993 . Since 1999 the stage has been organizing summer open-air performances in Frankfurt's Grüneburgpark , where the group's entire repertoire is performed.

The Dramatic Stage was also significantly involved in several major Frankfurt events, beginning with the "Easter Walk" in 2001, in which the entire city area on twelve stages with in-house productions on the life and work of Goethe and guest artists, such as B. Nina Hagen was recorded. In 2007, the theater hosted the anniversary of the Senckenberg Natural History Museum, at which short theater pieces produced especially for the occasion were shown throughout the museum, in which the history of the museum was told in a humorous way or some of the exhibits were brought to life. In the summer of 2008 the troop organized a similar event to mark the 150th anniversary of the Frankfurt Zoo .
