teAtrum 7 (also "teAtrum VII") is an independent theater in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin .

background

The rehearsal stage and an important Frankfurt venue was located in part of the listed hall of the former Naxos Union in Frankfurt's Ostend until 2013 . Since then, the group has played primarily in the Gallus Theater in Frankfurt . In addition, the productions also take place in sometimes unusual locations, for example in old vaulted cellars, in and on the campus of the technical college, in the foyer of the opera, in schools, clubs, discos and former town houses.

The post-dramatic theater group has existed as a free group since 1996, since 1999 under the name "teAtrum VII". Since 2012, short and feature films have also been produced under the name "teAtrum 7 ... Film". In addition to experimental theater with professional actors, amateurs and laypeople (as so-called "everyday experts"), teAtrum VII, under the direction of the Frankfurt director and theater educator Sascha Alexander Weipert , has concentrated on editing existing texts and bringing them onto the stage in new interpretations . Some of the pieces, which are often based on classics, are put together from different sources and their own dialogues. Others are dramatized or rewritten based on narrative motifs (e.g. Sleepy Hollow after Washington Irving or Candide after Voltaire). With a headwind for example, this is the premiere of the authors of a text on torture and oppression Sandra Inhofer and Peter Kapp , who was born at the Frankfurt Opera on the occasion of the "Day for Freedom". For some time now, teAtrum VII has also brought pieces by new authors to the stage. In 2012, for example, there were three world premieres.

The core of the teAtrum VII ensemble includes Dieter Schaller, Elena Thimmel, Eric Lenke, Janine Karthaus, Jenny-Ellen Riemann, Antonia Jonas, Matthias Hock, Nora Kühnlein, Peter Kapp, Sascha Weipert and others. a.

Experimenting with language , movement , dance, music , images, spaces, sounds and the use of modern media (such as film, video, photography) are essential components of the staging.

Productions

Other planned productions are "The Twelve Jurors" by Reginald Rose and "The Beauty & the Beast" as a comedy performance. In addition, various film projects are in preparation, including "Die Brille" based on Edgar Allan Poe and the feature film "Shtum" by Sandy Hook.
