Jochen Till (2010)

Jochen Till (born May 27, 1966 in Frankfurt ) is a German writer , children's book and playwright .

Life

Jochen Till was born on May 27, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main, grew up in Bad Soden and now lives in Sulzbach am Taunus. After graduating from high school in 1988 - after repeating the 8th grade three times and repeating the 11th grade once - he first studied English , American and German studies for a master's degree and also worked in numerous different jobs. a. as a video rental company, night watchman or comic book seller.

After he mainly wrote poems and song lyrics in his youth , Till has been working as a freelance writer since 1997 , and full-time since 2005. Most of his works published by Rowohlt , Arena and especially by Ravensburger fall into the field of children's and youth literature . In addition, two volumes of poetry and contributions to numerous anthologies have been published so far.

He also works as a scriptwriter , translator and text and dialogue editor , as well as patron of the “Young Media Jury” in Frankfurt.

His book Ohrensausen was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2003 .

His book “The Last Romantic”, a black-humored road movie, was presented to the public in 2004 at a sold-out “release party” in Frankfurt's Batschkapp . The audio book of the same name was recorded live on two evenings in Frankfurt's nightlife .

In October 2008, his first play, Belly Landing , an adaptation of his novel of the same name, premiered as a youth play in the Frankfurt Landungsbrücken . In June 2009, Sturmfrei was followed by a further stage adaptation of their own template.

Jochen Till, who says he cannot read, “at least not loudly and in front of people”, is always accompanied on his extensive reading tours by a group of actors and speakers who interpret his texts.
