Boris Kolker

Boris Kolker (born July 15, 1939 in Tiraspol , Moldavian SSR ) is a language teacher, translator , Esperantist and co-founder of the national Esperanto movement in the Soviet Union. In 1985 he received his Ph.D. from the Institute for Linguistics of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. excellent. In 1993 he moved to the USA .

Life

Boris Kolker learned Esperanto in 1957. He is the author of three textbooks for Esperanto students of various language levels and has written a number of articles on questions of interlinguistics . He is well known to many Esperanto learners due to the popularity of his book Vojao en Esperanto-lando (Journey in Esperanto Land), which can serve both as an advanced Esperanto course and as an introduction to Esperanto culture .

Kolker is a member of the Academy of Esperanto , an honorary member of the Universal Esperanto Association and one of the editors of the monthly magazine in Esperanto Monato (month). In Russia he ran a correspondence course with around 900 graduates. He also taught Esperanto at universities in San Francisco and Hartford . Now he leads an international advanced Esperanto correspondence course and is Vice-President of the Examination Committee of the International Esperanto Teachers Association (ILEI). At various times he was a member of the Committee of the World Esperanto Federation . He gave lectures at various Esperanto world congresses and in 2000 he was responsible for the main theme of the 85th world congress in Tel-Aviv .
