Theodor Christian Körner
Theodor Christian Körner (born December 21, 1863 in Lauffen am Neckar , † April 29, 1933 in Herrenberg ) was a German businessman, entrepreneur and politician .
Life
Theodor Körner graduated from secondary school, then did a commercial apprenticeship and attended the commercial college in Stuttgart . After working as an employee in various industrial companies, he founded a printing company in 1885, which he later expanded into a publishing house with its own book printer. Numerous newspapers appeared in his publishing house, such as the Schwäbische Tageszeitung , the Evangelische Gemeindeblatt für Württemberg and the Fränkische Volksfreund . He also worked as an editor of his own political journals, including the Schwäbischer Landmanns , the Württembergische Landpost and, from 1919, the Gäuboten in Herrenberg . He also founded and directed various agricultural associations, such as the South German Shepherd's Association and the Milk Producers Association for the city of Stuttgart and the surrounding area.
politics
Theodor Körner thought and acted as a right-wing conservative politician. In 1893 he took part in the founding assembly of the Federation of Farmers (BDL) in Berlin and in 1895 took over the management of the BDL in Württemberg . From 1906 to 1918 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Württemberg Landtag . During this time, the BDL was part of a parliamentary group with the conservatives under the long-standing leadership of Heinrich von Kraut . There, Körner represented the interests of the farming population in a very controversial manner. In 1919, the BDL in Württemberg (known there as the Württemberg Farmers' Association) was transferred to the Württemberg Farmers' and Vintners' Association , whose leading politician, Körner, remained alongside the actual party chairman Wilhelm Vogt until 1933. From 1919 to 1920 Körner was a member of the constituent state assembly of the new People's State of Württemberg and was again a member of the state parliament from 1920 to 1933 . From 1924 to 1928, Körner was President of the Württemberg Landtag and from 1932 to 1933 its senior president. In addition, Körner was a member of the DNVP parliamentary group in the Reichstag from 1920 to 1928 .
