Boris Michailowitsch Wolin

Boris Mikhailovich Wolin , maiden name: Josif Jefrimowitsch Fradkin, (born June 1 . Jul / 13. June  1886 greg. In Hlybokaye , Vitebsk ; † 15. February 1957 in Moscow ) was a Soviet journalist, politician and censor.

Life

Wolin joined the Russian Social Democracy in 1904. He was one of the founders of the literary magazine "Na postu" and from 1921 to 1924 editor of "Rabotschaja Moskwa". He did diplomatic and journalistic work in Paris and Vienna . From 1929 he was a member of the editorial team of "Na literaturnom postu".

As the successor to Pawel Lebedew-Polyansky , Wolin headed the censorship authority of the Soviet Union Glawlit from 1931 to 1935 .

From 1936 to 1945 Wolin was the main editor of the magazine Istoritscheskowo Schurnal (historical magazine), which emerged from the magazine Bor'ba Klassow (class struggle) founded in 1931 . In the war year 1941, it was merged with the magazine Historik-Marksist . In 1945 the editorial staff of Istoritscheskowo Journal was dismissed and the magazine was continued as Waprossij Istorii (Questions on History), which still exists today (2019).

Prizes and awards

Wolin received the Order of the Great Patriotic War , 1st class.
