Boris Ord
Boris Ord (born July 9, 1897 in Bristol as Bernhard Ord ; † December 30, 1961 in Cambridge ) was a British organist and music director of the Choir of King's College (Cambridge) from 1929 to 1957 . During the Second World War he had to serve in the Royal Air Force . Meanwhile, Harold Darke took his place . Like his successor, David Willcocks , he was educated at Clifton College .
His composition " Adam lay ybounden " is the only composition published by him. For some time it was an integral part of the " Festival of Nine Lessons ", which took place annually at King's College. Today it is performed occasionally, alternating with the versions by Peter Warlock and Philip Ledger . Ord was recognized as an excellent choir director by David Willcocks, who taught him everything there was to know to lead a choir.
