Boris Velter

Boris Velter (born October 30, 1967 in Augsburg ) is a German local and state politician ( SPD ). Since September 1, 2013, he has been State Secretary of the Berlin Senate Administration for Labor, Integration and Women as successor to Fahrhad Dilmaghani and held the same position in the Senate Administration for Health, Care and Equality from December 2016 to December 2018 . Velter was chairman of the SPD district executive committee in Berlin-Mitte from March 2012 to April 2018.

Life and work

Velter was born in Augsburg, but has lived in Berlin-Wedding for more than 14 years . He has a degree in economics and specializes in health care issues.

Political career

From March 2010 to February 2014 Velter was chairman of the 15th Gesundbrunnen department of the Berlin SPD district association in the center.

Velter has been chairman of the Berlin State Working Group of Social Democrats in Healthcare (ASG) since March 2010. When he was elected district chairman on March 17, 2012, he succeeded Christian Hanke.

Since 1997, Velter's main job has been in various political activities. From 2006 to 2010 he headed the coordination department “Liaison between the Federal Government, the Länder and the Associations” in the management department of the Federal Ministry of Health under Minister Ulla Schmidt . From 2010 to 2013 he was head of the department for work, health, family and society of the Brandenburg State Representation at the federal government and its press spokesman .

From September 1, 2013, he was State Secretary of the Berlin Senate Department for Labor, Integration and Women as successor to Fahrhad Dilmaghani and held the same position in the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality from December 2016 to December 2018 .

Velter is often a guest lecturer or speaker on special health topics , for example at the Center for Innovative Health Technology (ZiG) at the TU Berlin .
