Boris Vadimowitsch Sokolow

Boris Wadimowitsch Sokolow ( Russian Борис Вадимович Соколов , scientific transliteration Boris Vadimovič Sokolov ; born January 2, 1957 in Moscow ) is a Russian historian and literary scholar.

In 1979 he received his doctorate from Moscow State University (as a geographer). He worked as a research assistant at the Institute for World Literature and professor at the Academy of Slavic Culture.

In the 1990s he published research on Beria , Stalin , Molotov and Brezhnev .

He is one of those Russian historians who critically assess the actions of the Soviet state and military leadership in the Second World War. I.a. he has also criticized the Soviet Afghanistan policy and Russia's policy towards the Baltic States.

Sokolov's works have been translated into Polish , Latvian and Estonian .
