Boris Vladimirovich Romanov
Grand Duke Boris Vladimirovich Romanov ( Russian Борис Владимирович Романов ; born November 12 . Jul / 24. November 1877 greg. In Tsarskoye Selo ( Russia ); † 9. November 1943 in Paris ) was a member of the House of Romanov-Holstein-Gottorp .
Life
Boris was the third son of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrowitsch Romanow (1847–1909) and his wife Maria Pawlowna (1854–1920), daughter of the Mecklenburg Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II. And his first wife, Princess Auguste Reuss zu Schleiz-Köstritz.
In 1913 Boris asked for the hand of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolajewna Romanowa (1895-1918), the eldest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna , but the Tsarina declined because he had the reputation of a bon vivant. Maria Pavlovna's rejection of her son provoked hostility towards the tsarist couple. In 1919 Boris Wladimirowitsch Romanov married his long-time lover Zinaida Raschewskaya in Italy ( Genoa ).
