Boris Živković [ ˈbɔris ˈʒiʋkɔʋitɕ ] (born November 15, 1975 in Živinice ) is a former Croatian football player .

Career

Živković came to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1997 via NK Hrvatski dragovoljac , NK Marsonia Slavonski Brod and FK Sarajevo . He was runner-up three times with Leverkusen and reached the UEFA Champions League final and the DFB Cup final in 2002 . In the same year he took part in the 2002 World Cup with the Croatian national team.

In 2003, although he wanted to stay, he had to leave Bayer Leverkusen because the club wanted to save money. The defender then moved to Portsmouth FC in the English Premier League . Half a year later he moved back to the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart . The then captain of the Croatian national team was hardly ever used there, as he was repeatedly thrown back due to injuries.

In January 2006 he was loaned from VfB Stuttgart to 1. FC Köln until the end of the 2005/06 season. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he moved back to Croatia for the first division club HNK Hajduk Split . In the 2006/07 season coach Slaven Bilić brought him back to the team. In 2009 he ended his sporting career after he was no longer a club.
