The Boset , also Gudda called and Bericha , two stratovolcanoes in Ethiopia , due to their geographical proximity under the common name Boset-Bericha are known. They rise from the Ethiopian part of the East African rift . They are composed of rhyolite and trachyte . Obsidian and pumice stones can also be found on Bericha . Remains of an earlier caldera can be found on the northwest flank of the Boset. The boundaries of the caldera were destroyed by later lava flows. There is speculation that the volcano, although the most recent eruptions are believed to have been in the Pleistocene and Holocene , is still active today. Around 4 million people live within a radius of 100 km.
