The miners of the Bottrop class (370) (before conversion class 765) of the German Navy were former landing ships of the American type LST -542, which were converted into mine layers in Germany .

The units were acquired by the US Navy in 1960 at a price of DM 340,000.00 each and converted into mine layers by MWB Motorenwerke Bremerhaven . In 1964, the Bottrop and Bochum were put into service and assigned to the mine ship squadron , from 1965 the mine-laying squadron. The Bamberg was only about 60% completed and finally sold to the Netherlands .

After decommissioning in 1972, they were given to Turkey .
