Bou Chebka or Bouchebka ( Arabic بوشبكة, DMG Būšabaka ) is a small town with about 4,000 inhabitants in western Tunisia, right on the border with Algeria ; it belongs to the Kasserine governorate and to the Fériana delegation .

Bou Chebka is located at an altitude of about 1140 meters above sea level. d. M. in the eastern foothills of the Tell Atlas . It is about 350 kilometers (driving distance) in a north-easterly direction to Tunis ; the town of Kasserine is about 55 kilometers to the east.
population
In the year of Tunisia's independence (1956), Bou Chebka had around 1,000 inhabitants. Most of the population who immigrated from the surrounding regions is of Berber descent, but the colloquial language is Arabic .
economy
The city benefits from its proximity to Algeria, because in addition to the official exchange of goods, other commercial goods (above all gasoline, household chemicals and canned goods) are smuggled back and forth between the two countries.
