List of governorates of Tunisia
As a governorate ( Arabic ولاية, DMG Wilāya 'Province / Gouvernement') is an administrative-territorial administrative unit in Tunisia . There are currently 24 governorates , which in turn are divided into 264 delegations ( Arabic معتمدية, DMG Muʿtamadiyya 'administrative district') and in numerous municipalities ( Arabic شياخة, DMG Šiyāḫa 'Office of a Sheikh'). The smallest administrative unit in Tunisia is formed by 2073 sectors ( Imadas , Arabic عمادة, DMG ʿImāda 'Office of a Mayor').
In Tunisia, the name Wilāya is reproduced in French texts as "le gouvernorat", which corresponds to the German government .
