Bouchetia arniatera is a plant type from the genus Bouchetia in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Bouchetia arniatera is a small-growing plant that barely reaches a height of 10 centimeters. Several stems arise from a woody rootstock. The crown is purple in color, is about 2 to 3 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. Compared to Bouchetia erecta , the species has a longer corolla tube that widens only very slightly beyond the beginning of the corolla lobes. This type of Bouchetia erecta also differs in the shape and size of the calyx , as it is larger and deeper lobed.
Occurrence
The species was collected sporadically at remote locations in Mexico , in many cases these locations were in the highlands. In general, the range seems to be more south and west than that of Bouchetia erecta .
Botanical history
The species was first described in 1904 by Benjamin Lincoln Robinson after Alfred Dugès, a professor from Guanajuato , Mexico , had sent him a specimen. There the plant was suspected of causing poisoning in sheep, to which the epithet chosen by Robinson also refers. A synonym is Salpiglossis arniatera , this name was given in 1978 by William D'Arcy , who incorporated the entire genus Bouchetia into the genus Salpiglossis .
