Bouchetia erecta is a plant type from the genus Bouchetia in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Bouchetia erecta is a low, perennial , herbaceous plant , the few to several stems of which are slender and grow upright or prostrate and can be up to 20 cm long. They are sparsely hairy with inwardly curved trichomes . The leaves are linear to lanceolate-ovate, 1.5 to 3.5 cm long and 0.3 to 1 cm wide. They are pointed towards the front and wedge-shaped at the base. Both sides are almost hairless or only finely haired. The lower leaves are short-stalked, the upper ones perched.

The flowers are solitary on 1.5 to 3 cm long peduncles . The calyx is finely haired and 6 to 10 mm long and covered with 2.5 to 4 mm long, linear, unequal or equal, pointed or blunt calyx tips. The crown is white or blue and finely hairy on the outside. The coronet has a diameter of about 1 cm, the corolla tube is 1 to 1.5 cm long. The corolla lobes are short and blunt. The five stamens are in two pairs of stamens and a single one. The two pairs are either the same length and the individual stamen is shorter, or one pair is longer and the remaining three are the same length. The stamens are 4.5 to 7.5 mm long, the anthers about 1 mm. The counters are diverging at the top. The stylus is 6 to 9.5 mm long and does not protrude beyond the crown.

The fruit is a 5.5 to 7 mm long capsule , which is enclosed in an enlarging calyx. The seeds are angled, about 1 mm long and reticulate-pitted.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

The species is found in the southwestern United States , Mexico, and South America .
