Boudh (also Baud or Baudh ) was a princely state of British India in what is now the state of Odisha . Its capital was the place Boudh .
According to legend, the principality was founded in the early Middle Ages by a Brahmin who adopted a nephew of the Raja of Keonjhar ( Bhanj - Rajputs ) as his successor . The once extensive territory was gradually lost to the neighboring states. The remainder was recognized by the British as a princely state in 1874 and Boudh remained a British protectorate until 1947 . In 1921 it had an area of 3275 km² and 130,000 inhabitants.
The Raja joined the Eastern States Union in August 1947 . On January 1, 1948, this union was dissolved and Boudh Orissa ( Odisha ) and thus India incorporated. On November 1, 1956, all princely states were dissolved.
