Bourj Hammoud (or Burj Hammud ; Arabic برج حمود Burdsch Hammud , DMG Burǧ Ḥammūd ; Armenian Պուրճ Համուտ ) is a Lebanese community in the Metn district in Mount Lebanon Governorate. It is located east of Beirut and south of Antelias , next to the Beirut freight port.

The Beirut suburb is also known as the "heart of the Armenians " in Lebanon . The residents of the district are predominantly Armenians and descendants of survivors of the death marches in Anatolia as a result of the Armenian genocide .

Bourj Hammoud is a popular Lebanese shopping district for textiles, jewelry, interior furnishings and fine pastries, with streets (pedestrian zone) that look almost European. Most of the streets are named after Armenian cities ( Yerevan ), rivers ( Arax ), or after places formerly populated by Armenians in today's Turkey ( Marasch , Sis ). The signage of the shops is mostly multilingual (Armenian, Arabic, French or English). These languages are also served in the shops. The local dialect is Western Armenian . Bordering Bourj Hammoud is Dora, a transport hub (on the Tripoli-Beirut route) and a hub for buses and taxis.
