Boxian (meteorite)
The Boxian meteorite ( Chinese 亳 县 陨石 , Pinyin Bóxiàn Yǔnshí ) is a LL3.9 chondrite that fell on October 20, 1977 in Xiaoyanzhuang, Qiaocheng , Bozhou , Anhui Province , People's Republic of China, about 120 km west-southwest of Huaibei . It is named after the former Bo ("Boxian") district (now Bozhou).
The mineral zhanghengite, described by Wang Kuiren (王奎仁) in 1986, was first discovered in the material of the meteorite , so that Boxian is the type locality of the mineral. In addition to zhanghengite, numerous accompanying minerals were found in the Boxian meteorite , namely biotite , calcite , chromite , dolomite , ilmenite , graphite , kamacite , corundum , solid copper , magnesia ferrite , olivine , orthoclase , pentlandite , quartz , taenite , troilite , whitlockite , desertite and various Plagioclase , clino- and orthopyroxene .
