Andreas Pokorny (born June 18, 1968 in Chorzów , Poland ) is a former German ice hockey player who has spent a total of nine seasons in the ice hockey Bundesliga and four in the German ice hockey league . Most recently he was head coach of the Hammer Youngstars in the Oberliga West , he resigned as head coach on January 27, 2010.
Career
Andreas Pokorny played for the first time in 1985 in the ice hockey Bundesliga at the ECD Iserlohn . During the regular season, the then 17-year-old defender rarely came to ice ages. When Sepp Klaus was injured, however, coach Jan Eysselt used him regularly, so that Pokorny and Earl Spry formed the second line of defense in the play-offs . In the third quarter-final game against Landshut EV , Pokorny scored the 1-0 against Landshut's goalkeeper Rupert Meister from the left after being assisted by Danny Held and Mike Bruce . He prepared the 2-0 and scored the 3-2 winner in the 53rd minute after Martti Jarko presented it . In the second semi-final game against the Kölner Haie , he prepared both goals for the 2-0 final score and was thus significantly involved in the only defeat of Cologne. Reaching the semi-finals is still one of the greatest successes in Iserlohn's ice hockey history.
The next year he joined the sharks who had made him an offer. He mostly played in a row with Udo Kießling , who introduced the young defender to professional hockey. Pokorny played a total of nine years in Cologne and won three German championships and was runner-up three times and took a leading role in the defense of the sharks. Here he also became a national player and took part in three world championships . In the 1993/94 season he played for Adler Mannheim . In 1996 he moved from Cologne back to Iserlohn , where the Iserlohn EC was active in the second highest division. It was followed by another three years in the second division before he returned to the Sauerland for a second time for the 2000/01 season . Pokorny played during the first two years of the Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL at the place where he started his career before moving to EV Duisburg in 2002 . He then ended his career as a player.
After the end of his career, Pokorny completed a coaching course and is in possession of the B license, with which he can train up to and including the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey . In 2006 he took over the Young Wild Roosters in the Regionalliga NRW . Since 2008 he has been the head coach at Lippe-Hockey-Hamm . Since 2012 he has been the head coach of the German national sledge ice hockey team.
