The Boyd Escarpment is a 10-mile (10-mile) step of rock and snow in Queen Elizabeth Land, East Antarctica . In the Dufek massif of the Pensacola Mountains , it extends from the Wujek Ridge in a northeastern direction and includes the Bennett Spur , the Cox-Nunatak and the Rankine Rock .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the step in 1979 after the American glaciologist and geologist Walter W. Boyd Jr., who worked at Little America Station during the International Geophysical Year 1957 and in three United States campaigns from 1962 to 1966 Geological Survey in the Pensacola Mountains.
