Bråviken

Bråviken is a fjärd in the Baltic Sea in the historic Swedish province of Östergötland .
The bay is over 50 km long and extends to the island of Lindö, which is off Norrköping . Most of the villages are located on the steep north bank, while the south side is characterized by flat agricultural areas. Some areas of the bay are designated as a nature reserve, the southern part as the Ramsar area Södra Bråviken ( 3SE046 ). In 2006, the Russian company Peter Gaz asked the Swedish authorities for permission to conduct investigations in Bråviken to clarify whether it was possible to lay a natural gas pipeline in the bay. This pipeline is to be a branch of the new gas pipeline from Russia to Germany .
The legendary Battle of Bråvalla is said to have taken place in the vicinity of the bay .
