Brad Decker

Bradley David Decker (born March 19, 1975 ) is an American composer , musician and music teacher.

Decker studied composition with Peter Hesterman and Paul Hayden and clarinet with Richard Barta from 1993 to 1998 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston . After completing his bachelor's degree, he continued his composition studies with Kenneth Jacobs at the University of Tennessee . From 2000 to 2005 he completed a PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (composition with Zack Browning , Erik Lund , Heinrich Taube , Stephen Taylor and Scott Wyatt and double bass with Michael Cameron ). He wrote his dissertation on the late chamber music of Franco Donatoni .

From 2006 he taught composition, electronic music and counterpoint at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, and since 2008 he has taught music theory and composition at Eastern Illinois University. In 2004 he was a finalist of the Concurso Internacional de Música Eletroacústica de São Paulo and in 2005 of the ASCAP / SEAMUS competition for young composers and the Pierre Schaeffer International Competition of Computer Music . In his works he combines musique concrète , digital sound generation and instrumental music with live improvisation and multimedia elements (videos, sculptures and texts).
