The Brandau Crater is a unvergletscherter volcanic crater on the Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Royal Society Range it rises from the Chancellor Ridge south of the mouth of the Howchin Glacier in McMurdo Sound .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named him in 1994 after Lieutenant Commander James F. Brandau (* 1934) of the United States Navy , helicopter pilot of the VX-6 flight squadron in this area in 1964 and 1965.
