Offer and business model

Branded products from the areas of fashion , lifestyle , sport / leisure , living and technology are sold on the website . In contrast to other sites, however, only members can buy, which is supposed to create exclusivity . In the past, you had to be invited by other members beforehand. When shopping, daily changing offers with reduced prices should increase the attractiveness of the products. Brands4Friends started in September 2007 as a start-up company and was founded by Christian Heitmeyer, Constantin Bisanz, Nicolas Speeck and Mario Zimmermann. In late 2010, it was sold to eBay for 150 million euros, making it a subsidiary of eBay. At the time, the company already had a turnover of 80 million and was increasing its turnover every year. In 2016 the company had a turnover of 124 million euros.

On September 3, 2014, Stefan Wenzel was appointed Senior Director Fashion in Germany by eBay and thus also Managing Director at Brands4Friends and advocated a stronger cooperation between the two companies. In February 2015 Brands4Friends stated that the logistics in the European logistics center of eBay Enterprise in Halle to relocate.

On April 21, 2016, Wenzel gave up his position at brand4friends to become Vice President at eBay Germany and transferred the position to Gülfem Toygar. A short time later, however, he handed this over to Philipp Rossner. In June 2018, he left the company at his own request and passed the responsibility on to Nina Pütz.

The company is located in Berlin-Kreuzberg and has around 260 employees. It is committed to promoting young fashion designers, e.g. B. through sales in the shop, presence at fashion fairs and promotional services.
