The Brandt Film GmbH (formerly Rainer Brandt Filmproduktion mbH ), headquartered in Potsdam - Babelsberg is a German production company for the synchronization of films and television series.

history

The company was founded in 1973 by actor and voice actor Rainer Brandt in Berlin . Brandt had already worked for other companies - in particular for Deutsche Synchron - as a dialogue book author and dubbing director for several years .

Brandtfilm produced dubbed versions for the cinema for numerous films with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (e.g. Two Heavenly Dogs on the Way to Hell (1973) and Mein Name ist Nobody (1973)), with Louis de Funes (including: Brust oder Keule ( 1976), Louis and his extraterrestrial cabbages (1982)) and Jean Paul Belmondo ( The Professional (1981)).

Brandtfilm also dubbed A Corpse for Dessert (1976), The Last Sniper (1977), Never Say Never (1983) and Beetlejuice (1988) and there were also numerous re-dubbing of films that had already been dubbed in the 1970s and 80s ( e.g .: For a handful of dollars (1975)).

At the end of the 1980s, the company was one of the first in the industry to switch to digital recording technology and shift its focus to the synchronization of television series. Brandtfilm dubbed some well-known sitcoms for the Kirch group , such as Die Ausflippten (1988–1990), Seinfeld (1994–1998), Frasier (1994–2002), All under one roof (1994–1998) or Fawlty Towers (1996) and Comedy series such as M * A * S * H (1989–1992) and Ein Cage Full of Heroes (1993) and Die 2 (1994). This was followed by further adaptations in different genres, for example the 1970s sitcom The Jeffersons (1998–2000), the science fiction series Roswell (2000–2002) and Eureka - The Secret City (2007–2012) or the drama Everwood series (2005-2006). The sitcom The Big Bang Theory has been dubbed for ProSieben since 2008 .

In 1996 Brandtfilm moved its headquarters from Berlin-Spandau to Kleinmachnow, where it took over the DEFA studio for documentary films. The company has been based in Potsdam on the premises of Studio Babelsberg since 2015 . At the beginning of 2016 Judith Brandt , the daughter of Rainer Brandt, took over the management. At the same time, the name was changed from Rainer Brandt Film Produktionsgesellschaft mbH to Brandtfilm GmbH .
