The Brovary Zywiec SA is a Polish brewery company with a branch in Zywiec ( Zywiec ), which owned since 1998, Grupa Zywiec , a subsidiary of Heineken is.

history

Beer was brewed in Żywiec from the spring water of the eastern mountain streams of the Silesian Beskids . The brewery was founded in 1856 by Archduke Albrecht von Österreich-Teschen , the owner of the Teschener Kammer , as the Archducal Brewery Saybusch near Żywiec. His father Archduke Karl of Austria had already founded the castle brewery Teschen on the western side of the Silesian Beskids in 1848. The brewery remained in the possession of the Habsburgs (Albrecht, Karl Stephan and Karl Albrecht ) for three generations . It was nationalized in the course of the Soviet occupation of Poland in 1944 and privatized after 1989 and came to Grupa Żywiec in 1998.

In the logo there are three fir trees from the Silesian Beskids and a dancing couple in national costumes. Originally the couple wore the traditional costumes of the Saybuscher Góralen . However, the American importer of the beer forced the change to the Krakow costume in the 1950s , as this was better known in the USA and clearly associated with Poland, whereas the Saybuscher costume was largely unknown.
