The Vitzthum brewery is a brewery from the Upper Austrian community of Helpfau-Uttendorf ( Braunau am Inn district ) that has existed since 1600 . In addition to the brewery, there is also a brewery inn .
history
The later brewery Vitzthum was founded in 1600. The first known owner is Mathias Finsterbauer, who was the father of 17 children and died in 1792. His son Josef Finsterbauer sold the brewery to Max Gramüller, who in turn sold it to Johann Gstötter. Before the market fire in 1835, Josef Schmerold owned the brewery. In 1800 Dominik Gerner - then mayor of Uttendorf and property owner - became the owner of the Vitzthum brewery. He sold it to Mathias Vitzthum in 1894/95 for 80,000 kroner . At that time, another brewery in Uttendorf - the Schmidhammer Brewery - was owned by the family.
After the Second World War , both breweries could continue to exist, but the Schmidhammer brewery had to close in 1968. At that time, the Vitzthum brewery was still a small business with an output of 3,000 hl. In the mid-1990s this could be increased to 25,000 hl.
In 1992 the brewery was handed over to Anton Vitzthum, later to Hermann Vitzthum. Finally, the management of the brewery and the inn was passed on to their sons Mathias and Hermann. Uncle Helmut Vitzthum is also involved in the brewery.
Types of beer
The main product of the Vitzthum brewery is the “Uttendorfer Märzen ”, but the better known is the “Uttendorfer Pils ”. There is also a special beer called “Falstaff”, as well as “Uttendorfer Export ”, “Uttendorfer Premium” and light or dark bock beer . There has been a light and a dark wheat beer in the range since the turn of the millennium . In addition, two types of shandy , a light beer , as well as various lemonades and mineral water under the brand name "Kristall" are produced.
