The Wilhelm Krieger GmbH & Co. KG brewery (also: Brauerei Krieger , Krieger-Bräu ; formerly: Brauerei Wilhelm Krieger KG ) is a medium-sized brewery based in Landau an der Isar in Lower Bavaria . In addition to its own beers, the company also produces beverages under the Frucade brand as a licensed bottling company. In 2008 the beer output was 15,000 hl.

History of the brewery

The brewery was founded in 1622. In 1913, Wilhelm and Anna Krieger bought the brewery with the associated brewery inn and farm from the previous owners Franz and Katharina Grandl. In 1931 a second production facility was built in Münchshöfen , about 15 kilometers to the north , a district of the ( Oberschneiding municipality ).

After the expansion of the Landau site in the 1950s, the brewery activity in Münchshöfen was discontinued in 1976 and operations altogether in 1977. In 1981 Helene Sturm, b. Krieger, the management team, after Wilhelm and Josef Krieger retired due to old age.

In 1997 the brewery museum of the Krieger brewery was opened. Using devices and photos from the company's inventory, it shows the history of the brewery and the process of brewing beer 50 to 100 years ago.

In 2009, Michael Sturm, the son of Helene Sturm, was the fourth generation to join the family business. In January 2016 the legal form was changed from a pure limited partnership to a GmbH & Co. KG and Helene Sturm resigned from the management.
