The Brauiweiher is a small lake about one kilometer southwest of the village center of Weisslingen in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It used to be used for ice production for a brewery that once operated here.
description
The Brauiweiher is located on a hill at the entrance to the Zürcher Oberland at 609 m above sea level. M. and has an area of 4.6 hectares. The lake is around 350 meters long and 160 meters wide. The Fürbach is both a tributary and an outflow of the lake, which was artificially created in the 19th century. He supplied the beer brewery operated here with ice, which the name Brauiweiher still reminds of today.
The lake is located in a nature reserve and can be circled on foot in just under half an hour. There are public fire pits by the lake and a restaurant across the street . Bathing in the lake is only allowed in the natural pool in the eastern part of the dam.
reachability
As a regional recreational area, the Brauiweiher is easily accessible by a road. Parking spaces are available for motor vehicles on the western side of the lake. Visitors arriving by public transport can take the bus from Illnau train station to the Brauiweiher station.
