Architecture and history

The large property that characterizes the street scene is one of the oldest locations for an inn in Gernrode. The name Gasthaus Deutsches Haus has been handed down as an original name . In 1736 a stag breaks out during a par force hunt and is pursued by 70 dogs and after three hours placed directly in front of the inn. The inn is then renamed Brauner Hirsch. At that time, the farm was owned by descendants of the Morgenroth family .

Today's buildings were built around 1910/1920. The plastered facade of the two-story house is structured in the style of neoclassicism . There are colossal Ionic pilasters .

From 1920 to 1990 there was a cinema in the hall of the inn , which was called "Kammer-Lichtspiele". The chamber light plays have been rebuilt and expanded several times over the years. The last renewal took place in 1966. The walls, the screen, the seating and the technology were replaced and renewed. The conversion cost 95,000 MDN and from then on offered space for 350 cinema-goers.

Currently (as of 2014) the building is empty.
