The company Bremach was an Italian manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Castenedolo ( Brescia ), 50 km west of Verona , where most small manufacturers for wheel - trucks . The annual production is around 500 vehicles and is primarily used for municipal, construction site and fire services.

Vehicles and types

The all-wheel drive trucks from Bremach were primarily built for use as municipal vehicles, where, due to their very compact dimensions (width approx. 1.7 m, height approx. 2.5 m) in alpine terrain, but also in narrow settlements Have advantages over vehicles from other manufacturers such as Scam / Iveco and Unimog. Up to 240 different vehicle variants could be built from the two basic models. With countless additional equipment, an extension or conversion could be carried out for almost any purpose.

A feature of the Bremach truck was the extremely torsion-resistant ladder frame , consisting of tubular longitudinal members with U-shaped beams. This frame remains stable even with high loads and in difficult terrain and made complex intermediate structures to compensate for torsion unnecessary.

In Germany, Bremach vehicles were used in large numbers in lignite open-cast mining ( Rheinbraun / RWE), but are now enjoying a certain popularity with long-distance travelers who use the truck as a basis for expedition vehicles due to their off-road mobility and high payload with compact external dimensions .

The vehicles are offered in versions with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 or 6 tons and with IVECO engines up to three liters of displacement.

The completely redesigned T-Rex model based on the 3.5- / 6-ton chassis has been available since 2008 . The T-Rex has a wider spaceframe cab and is ergonomically significantly improved compared to its predecessor Extreme . Little by little, the T-Rex is replacing the extreme . Chassis with single and double cabs have been available so far.

The T-Rex model has since been procured in large numbers from Russia and Saudi Arabia for the military and police.

Since 2010 there has been an offshoot of the company, Bremach Motors USA , in Chino, California. The OEM manufacturer is characterized by the fact that it combines the T-Rex imported from Italy with a variety of different drive sources. There is the T-Rex with various large-volume petrol and diesel engines from American production, but also as a hybrid, and since 2011 as a purely electric truck. The latter in particular caused a stir in the USA.

history

Bremach emerged in 1971 from a cooperation that existed from 1945 between the company Fratelli Brenna ( Varese ) as a manufacturer of small commercial vehicles and the motorcycle factory Aermacchi and was founded in 1956 under the name BREMACH Srl. Before 1945, the Fratelli Brenna company had built small, air-cooled diesels with a displacement of 1.1 liters for commercial vehicles. The first product was a three-wheeled barrow called the Motocarro Bremach . Starting in 1983, Bremach built light 4x4 all-wheel-drive commercial vehicles with Iveco engines, which were available as flatbed trucks with single and double cabs and as vans (panel vans). In addition, there have been various compact 2x4 transporters over the years.

In 2003 the merger took place with the Italian vehicle developer Darmak to form the Pro.de group , which now also includes the military vehicle manufacturer Valsella Mechanicca . Since then, Bremach has been even more active in new development and marketing.

A development partnership has existed with the German defense technology manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann since 2008 .

In 2015 the production of the T-Rex models was sold to the Tekne company, and BREMACH srl filed for bankruptcy. The naming rights remain with BREMACH srl while individual T-Rex are still manufactured by Tekne srl. In 2018 the company was closed.
