Brendan Cole (* 23. April 1976 ) is a New Zealand professional Latin - dancers , who for several years in the UK lives. He became known to a wide audience as a regular participant in the BBC production Strictly Come Dancing . In 2007 he represented Great Britain together with Camilla Dallerup at the Eurovision Dance Contest.

Life

Brendan Cole was born in Christchurch , New Zealand and has been dancing since he was six. At the age of 19 he moved to the UK, where he met his future dance partner and fiancée, Camilla Dallerup. The couple participated in tournaments as amateurs from 1996 to early 2002 and as professional dancers between 2002 and 2004. The couple celebrated their greatest success in 2003 when they took third place among Latin dancers at the British Championships. Brendan Cole had with his celebrity dance partner Natasha Kaplinsky during the first season of Strictly Come Dancing an affair, whereupon Dallerup separated from him.

Since the separation, the couple has also gone separate ways professionally, with the exception of participating in the Eurovision Dance Contest (see below).

Participation in Strictly Come Dancing

Cole has participated in all eight seasons of the show that have aired to date. He had the greatest success in the first season, when he won the competition with Natasha Kaplinsky.

He also took part in the show's Christmas special - a co-production of the British and US show - in 2004, 2005 and 2008.

Participation in the Eurovision Dance Contest

Camilla Dallerup and Brendan Cole were selected internally by the BBC to represent the UK in the first edition of the 2007 Eurovision Dance Contest in London. With their rumba and freestyle performance, the couple could not convince the European spectators and came in 15th and penultimate place with 18 points. The second dance was the couple's last appearance together.

Other television appearances

  • In the winter of 2004, Cole gained his first experience as an actor in the film Everything to dance for .
  • In the second season of the reality show Love Island (a kind of mixture of Big Brother and " I'm a star - get me out of here! " ) He took second place as a male participant.
  • In the show Just the two of us he also took second place. The program is similar in structure to Strictly Come Dancing, but a celebrity and a professional singer appear in a duet.
