The content of the film is the city of London , whose atmosphere is captured and whose traditions are discussed. In addition to modern customs and ceremonies, the city's sights are presented, such as London Bridge , various views of the Thames , the Tower of London complex with the former Traitors' Gate in the fortress . Speakers on Tower Hill are listened to and London policemen accompanying a procession are watched. The Bank of England is also shown, protected by a guard.

The Chelsea Pensioners Parade, which takes place on Oak Apple Day (German oak apple day ) or Royal Oak Day, an English holiday, is also attended . We take a look inside the Old Royal Naval College , which lies on the banks of the Thames, is one of the most important baroque buildings in England and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 . Then we watch the Trooping the Color military parade and the exclusive ceremonies of the Order of the Garter at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle .

We take a look at the statue of Henry VI. Finally, recordings of the rowing regatta held annually on the Thames between the renowned English universities University of Oxford and University of Cambridge are shown, which flow into further recordings of the Thames, and are narrated by Rudyard Kipling's The River's Tale .

Award

Bridge of Time was nominated in 1953 for an Oscar in the category “Best Short Film (2 Film Roles)” , but could not prevail against Walt Disney's short film Water Birds.
