Brigitte Povysil

Brigitte Povysil (born March 5, 1954 in Linz ) is an Austrian radiologist , primary physician and politician ( FPÖ ). Povysil was a member of the National Council for the first time from 1996 to 2002 and was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag from 2009 to 2017.

After the 2017 National Council election , she was able to win another mandate and, after a 15-year break, moved into parliament again as a member. After the National Council election in 2019 , she left the National Council.

education and profession

Povysil attended the federal high school for girls in Linz from 1964 to 1972 and then studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck . In 1978 she completed her studies with the academic degree Dr. med. univ. from.

Povysil completed her cycle from 1979 to 1982 at the Linz General Hospital, the State Children's Clinic and the State Women's Clinic (today: Med Campus IV ) and in 1982 acquired the “Jus practicandi” decree to become a general practitioner. From 1982 to 1988 Povysil attended training as a specialist in radiology and from 1988 to 1989 was senior physician at the Central X-ray Institute of the Linz General Hospital. Since 1990 she has been head of the Institute for Radiology at the State Children's Clinic Linz and the State Women's Clinic in Linz.

politics

From 1999 Povysil was a member of the Chamber Council of the Curia of Hospital Doctors (Chamber of Physicians for Upper Austria) and represented the FPÖ from January 15, 1996 to December 19, 2002 in the National Council. She was temporarily chairman of the health committee and the culture committee as well as culture spokeswoman for the FPÖ parliamentary club. Povysil ran in the Upper Austrian state elections on September 27, 2009 at number 3 on the FPÖ state list. In the 2017 National Council election , Povysil was able to obtain a basic mandate in the Upper Austria electoral district and thus moved back to the Austrian National Council after almost 15 years when it was sworn in on November 9, 2017. After the National Council election in 2019 , she left the National Council.

Private

Brigitte Povysil, nee Zierhut, is the daughter of a radiologist and a laboratory doctor. She is divorced and has a son.
