The vehicles of the British class 333 are electric multiple units (English: electric multiple unit, briefly EMU ) in the UK . They are used in local rail passenger transport and are based on class 332 .

Manufacturer

The manufacturers were Siemens Transportation Systems and the Spanish company CAF SA (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles), in whose plant in Saragossa the production took place. In February 2001 the class 333 started passenger service.

In contrast to class 332 , vehicles in class 333 have twice as many seats with slightly lower acceleration.

The steel vehicles are fully air-conditioned, have a toilet and a passenger information system. The end cars are the driven power cars .

Operator and areas of application

Class 333 is used by the British railway company Northern Rail on the Wharfedale line between Leeds and Ilkley in West Yorkshire . It also operates on the Airedale line between Leeds and Morecambe in North Yorkshire . This replaces the previous class 308 on both routes .
