Britta Bannenberg

Britta Bannenberg (born May 1, 1964 in Volkmarsen ) is a German legal scholar and criminologist .

Career

After studying law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , she received her doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on offender-victim compensation . From 1995 to 2001 Britta Bannenberg was a research assistant for Dieter Rössner at the Martin Luther University Halle / Saale and at the Philipps University in Marburg . She completed her habilitation in 2001 with a thesis on corruption in Germany and its criminal control. From 2002 she was Professor of Criminology , Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at Bielefeld University . Britta Bannenberg has been Professor of Criminology at the University of Giessen since 2008 . She is on the scientific advisory board of the German Forum for Crime Prevention .

Research focuses on: corruption and economic crime , violent crime and crime prevention , victim-compensation, school violence, school shootings and threats in particular in schools, in terms of prevention and escalation of violence in intimate relationships and crime prevention in problematic neighborhoods.

The former competitive athlete (until 1986; long-distance running ) became known to the wider public with her legal interventions against doping in sport.
