Brividi ( Italian for "shudder") is a 2022 song by Italian singers Mahmood and Blanco . It was written by the singers with producer Michelangelo and won the 2022 Sanremo Festival .
background
Mahmood made his breakthrough in Italy with his victory at the Sanremo Festival in 2019 , while Blanco became famous in 2020. The collaboration between the two successful singers came about through their common producer, Michelangelo. When Mahmood was working with him on new music, Blanco joined and together they developed the Brividi chorus . After that, they continued to work separately on the song.
In December 2021, Amadeus announced the song's participation in the 2022 Sanremo Festival . Mahmood and Blanco started the race as favourites. In the final they finally prevailed against Gianni Morandi and Elisa . Shortly thereafter, the two confirmed that they also wanted to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song .

The song's lyrics are about the freedom to love and expressing that love without restraint, without fear of one's own mistakes or shortcomings. The refrain contrasts the desire "to love you" (ti vorrei amare) and the awareness of one's mistakes (ma sbaglio sempre) , evoking the titular shudder (e mi vengono i brividi) .

The ballad builds on the piano and has intense string passages . The first verse is sung by Mahmood, the second by Blanco, Refrain and Bridge in duet.

The music video for the song was shot in Diemen (Netherlands), directed by Attilio Cusani .
Commercial win
The song reached the top of the Italian singles chart during the Sanremo Festival, two days after its release.
