Broc Cresta

Broc Daniel Cresta (born January 2, 1987 in Petaluma , California - † July 28, 2012 in Cheyenne , Wyoming ) was an American rodeo rider. He was considered one of the greatest talents and one of the most famous representatives of the rodeo sport in the United States.

Life

Cresta grew up on his parents' ranch in Santa Rosa, California , where he was introduced to rodeo in a playful way on ponies . After graduating from Santa Rosa High School, he became a professional rodeo rider. His father Daniel and his uncle were already active in professional rodeo, and his grandfather William bred rodeo horses.

In 2007 Cresta was awarded the PCA Rookie Heeler of the Year title. After numerous victories in competitions, he won the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Award twice in 2010 and 2011, the highest distinction that rodeo has to offer. Cresta's special discipline was the Steer Roping team , in which, as a so-called heeler , he used a rope to fix three runs of a young bull that had previously been lassoed by the so-called header from the horse . As a Heeler , he was last number 12 in the world rankings.

On July 28, 2012, Cresta was found dead in his trailer at a rodeo event in Wyoming . According to the autopsy result, he died of poisoning from the combined use of painkillers and alcohol. Cresta is buried in his hometown of Santa Rosa.
