Bromeliohyla is a genus of the tree frog family(Hylidae).
description
The genus is defined by various genetic characteristics. Other possible synapomorphies are the reproductive behavior, with the eggs being deposited in pools of water in bromeliads , as well as the dorsoventrally flattened body and the elongated tail of the tadpoles .
Occurrence
The area in which the genus occurs includes the tropical southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and northern Honduras.
Systematics
The genus Bromeliohyla was introduced in 2005 by Faivovich et al. first described . It is named after the bromeliads in which the animals lay their eggs. The species of this genus were previously united in the tree frog genus Hyla .
