Coordinates: 17 ° 57 ′ S , 122 ° 14 ′ E The Shire of Broome is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 55,796 km² and has over 16,000 inhabitants (2016).
Broome is located on the northwest coast in the Kimberley region about 1700 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is located in the coastal town of Broome , which is home to around 14,000 residents (2016).

The Broome Council has nine members elected by residents of the two wards (seven from Broome Ward, two from Dampier Ward). The Council Chairman and President des Shires are also recruited from among the Councilor.
