Brothers of St. Joseph the Worker (the ". Brothers of St. Joseph the Worker," religious symbol : BSJW ) is a fraternity in the Roman Catholic Church .

Order rules

They follow the three evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience and take a vow . They live in several fraternities according to the rule of the Regulated Third Order of the Franciscans . Each member dedicates their work to the Virgin Mary , St. Joseph of Nazareth (the worker) and St. Francis of Assisi . All members of the Order are committed to the daily celebration of the Eucharist , daily prayer, meditation and the prayer of the Rosary .

The fraternity

The main house of the fraternity is in Cleveland , where the congregation was founded on May 1, 1979. The brothers serve in parishes , schools, and other church institutions in the Diocese of Cleveland . The focus of work lies in the transmission of the gospel , life support and the passing on of life experiences. Some brothers work in Uganda and India .

The insignia

In the fraternity label there is a censer with rising smoke, this is supposed to symbolize the prayer. The carpenter's tool (ax and saw) represents the bond with St. Joseph of Nazareth. The cross of San Damiano in the middle , the symbol of the Franciscans , is intended to indicate the humble simplicity.
