Browningia albiceps is a species of the genus Browningia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet albiceps means 'with white spots on the trunk, which were caused by the closely spaced areoles'.

description

Browningia albiceps grows tree-shaped and reaches heights of 5 to 6 meters. Often a trunk up to 2 meters high is formed. The upright to spreading shoots in the crown area have a diameter of 8 to 10 centimeters. There are about 17 ribs that are 1.2 to 1.5 inches high. They are only slightly notched on their back. The round, white areoles on it are 7 to 10 millimeters apart. The thorns emerging from the areoles are sub-like to thick needle-shaped on young plants. The areoles of older trunks are heavily thorny. The areoles of the crown shoots have 12 to 20 bristle-like, yellowish thorns 5 to 20 millimeters in length.

Nothing is known about the flowers , fruits and seeds .

Distribution and systematics

Browningia albiceps is distributed in the Peruvian region of Cajamarca in the upper part of the valley of the Rio Saña at altitudes of 1000 meters. It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter .
