Bruce Keller (born July 10, 1960 in Wilkie , Saskatchewan ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

player

The attacking player Bruce Keller began his career with the Battleford Barons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and played for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies from 1983 to 1985 . During the 1983/84 season, Keller ran four times for the Canadian national team and scored two goals. In 1985, Keller moved to Germany and initially played for the Berlin SC Preussen in the 2nd Bundesliga North . After only seven games, Keller then moved to the upper division EC Hannover , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga North in 1988. A year later he took over the coaching position at EC Hannover. From 1992 Keller played for the upper division ESC Wedemark and two years later won the championship of the Oberliga Nord with his team. During the 1994/95 season, Keller moved to Hamburger SV in the third-class 2nd division North. In 1996 he ended his playing career.

Trainer

In the 1998/99 season Bruce Keller coached the regional division Hannover Indians and led his team to promotion to the top division. Afterwards, Keller coached the Indians women's team in the Bundesliga for two years . This was followed by coaching jobs at SC Langenhagen Jets in the Regionalliga Nord and the Hannover Braves in the Oberliga Nord. From 2011 to 2013 Keller trained the Herford EV in the Oberliga West, whose team included two of his three sons. Between 2017 and 2019, Keller trained the women's team of the Hanover Lady Scorpions and Hanover Lady Indians in the Bundesliga.
