Bruce Kumar Frantzis

Bruce Kumar Frantzis (* April 1949 , New York City ) is a Taijiquan teacher and author who is well known in the USA but also in Europe . In addition to Taijiquan, he also teaches other internal martial arts such as Xingyiquan or Baguazhang .

Frantzis grew up in Manhattan , New York City. At the age of twelve he came into contact with martial arts for the first time. He trained with enthusiasm in Judo, Karate , and Jiu Jitsu as well as Aikido . At the age of 18 he left his parents and moved to Japan to train aikido and karate.

His travels included a two-year trip to India and the People's Republic of China in the late 1970s.

Works

His best-known work is probably "Opening the Energy Gates of your body" (in German: opening the energy gates of the body), in which he describes the basic exercises and principles of Taijiquan. It represents a kind of beginner's work in Taijiquan. In addition to exercises, it also contains chapters on Chinese healing art and the theory of meridians.
