Brunhós is a locality and a former municipality in central Portugal .
history
The place was officially mentioned for the first time at the beginning of the 13th century. He then belonged alternately to Montemor-o-Velho and the former Abrunheira and Verride districts , before finally joining the Soure district with the administrative reform of 1853.
Culture, sports and sights
The Centro Cultural e Recreativo do Povo de Brunhós (German: cultural and leisure center of the people of Brunhós) with its activities as a sports club, cultural association and social institution, is an important factor in the former community.
The municipal administration maintains an open multifunctional sports field.
In addition to the chapel Capela de N.ª Sr.ª do Amparo (German: Chapel of Our Lady of Support, also Capela de São Jorge , German: Chapel of St. George) from 1631, the church Igreja Matriz is above all de Brunhós (German: Main Church of Brunhós, also Igreja N.ª Sr.ª da Conceição , German: Church of Our Lady of the Conception) is the most important historical building on site. Dating from the 16th century, it was extensively redesigned in the 18th century. The Gothic sculpture of S. Sebastião is worth seeing . The church is a listed building.

Brunhós is a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Soure , in the district of Coimbra . On June 30, 2011 the municipality of Brunhós had 179 inhabitants in an area of 2.7 km². It consisted only of the place Brunhós.
In the course of the municipal reorganization of Portugal after the municipal elections on September 29, 2013, the municipality of Brunhós was merged with the municipality of Gesteira to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Gesteira e Brunhós . The seat of the new municipality was Gesteira, but the municipal administration in Brunhós remained as a citizens' office.
economy
Agriculture, often only pursued as a sideline, continues to be an important economic factor. A sewage treatment plant (ETAR), various social institutions, and the municipal administration are located in the village.
