Bruno Alexandre dos Santos Patacas (born November 30, 1977 in Vila Franca de Xira ) is a former Portuguese football player . He played nine years for Nacional Funchal in the Primeira Liga , the top Portuguese division.

Career

Patacas started his career in the youth department of Sporting Lisbon . In 1996 he was awarded to the SC Lourinhanense, to which he remained loyal until 1997. He then joined the Sporting squad, where he played seven games. He then returned to SC Lourinhanense on loan in 1999. 1999-2000 he was in the squad of the CD Santa Clara . From 2000 to 2002 he played for SC Campomaiorense .

In 2002 he was detached from Sporting and moved to the newly promoted Nacional Funchal in Madeira . In its first season, the club was able to reach eleventh place straight away. 2003/04 they finished fourth and qualified for the UEFA Cup . Then Patacas made his debut at European club level. On September 16, 2004, he played in the first round of the UEFA Cup against Sevilla FC . The away game in Seville was lost 2-0, the defender received a yellow card. In the second leg Nacional could not defeat FC Sevilla and was eliminated. After finishing five in 2005/06 (again qualification for the international competition), eight and ten in the following years, they came fourth again in 2008/09. In 2009/10 they played in the newly created Europa League , where they failed in the group stage. 2009/10 Nacional was seventh in the league with Patacas. In the summer of 2011 he ended his career.

The right defender played for Portugal in the youth national teams.
