Bruno Carr
Bruno Carr (* 25. October 1928 in Bronx , New York ; † 9. February 1993 in Denver , Colorado ) was an American jazz - drummer .
Carr was a cousin of Connie Kay ; as a drummer he was self-taught. Swing drummer Sid Catlett helped him start his career. After his military service from 1951 to 1953 he played in a New York club until 1955, after which he accompanied Ray Charles a . a. on a European tour. In the early 1960s he was in backing bands for Sarah Vaughan , Betty Carter and Shirley Scott ; he also played with Lou Donaldson and Wild Bill Davis . In the late 1960s / early 1970s he was a member of Herbie Mann's band ; Carr also performed with him at the Berlin Jazz Days . He also worked for Bobby Timmons , Hank Crawford , Dave Pike , Norman Simmons , Jack Wilson , Monty Alexander , Eddie Vinson and Wynton Kelly in the 1960s and 1970s . In the early 1980s he moved to Denver, where he still performed at jazz parties.
